My dream car is a 1964 1/2 Mustang Coupe. It came off the assembly line May 29, 1964. I acquired it in June 1998.
I bought it from a lady who’s mother had bought it in 1966. The original owner bought it from Bob Shasta Ford in Big Spring, Texas in June 1964. The story behind how I acquired it is rather funny as I was told about the car from a friend of mine in 1995 but was unable to purchase it at the time. Then a couple of years later I heard of the car again from a different friend and did not know at the time it was the same car. I then bought it and spent the next 5 – 6 years restoring it to the way it looked back in 1964. The first time it went anywhere was the 40th Anniversary of the Mustang in Nashville, TN were, much to my surprise, it won an award. The car is driven to all events and has been to Kansas City, KS, Mustang, OK, and the 45th Anniversary of the Mustang in Birmingham, AL, as well as local events such as The Yellow Rose Classic.
My car is Wimbelton White with red interior. It is a 260 V8 F-code with a Cruise O Matic automatic transmission. It also has power steering. Other options are rally pack, air conditioning, back-up lamps, two speed wipers, and tinted glass.
Restoring this car has been a lot of fun and a lot of headaches. It is my first Mustang and it will not be my last. I am very proud of my 1964 1/2 Mustang but now that it is complete I am ready to find my next project, my next "Dream Car".
